Rollyo

It is so nice to group all the sites you trust together and you can search them at once. This will save lots of time and have far more chances to find out what you are looking for.

It will be very useful if we have different rollyo (children, teenager, fiction, graphic novel, dvd...)set up on the front desks computer, it will improve our reference skill a lot and satisfy the customer even more.

Libary Thing

I open an account and add 6 books to my libary.

This is a biggest book club the whole world has ever seen. You can see whoelse have similar tastes with you and share the thoughts with each other.

It can make the ordinary people have a deeper understanding about how library books are catalogued and organised.

It also a great tool to trace all the books you have read, and make a reading plan for the future.

I create an account and I can access netlibrary dirctly via http://netlibrary.com/, I searched by subject, keyword title, and add one book to my favorite.

This maybe very handy for the people who has difficulty in coming to the libary or the people who need to read the book straight away, rather than have to put holds and waiting in the queue.

Youth Tube

I click on Howto & style, viewed Yoga with Tara Stiles. Yoga is my hobby so I choosed to watch this video.

I like this site as it is easy to use, you only need a headphone, you feel more interesting, as you can view and hear and play at the same time.

The thing I don't like is some time the video is stoped and you have to wait a few seconds to get it move on again, this may due to the heavy usage during the busy hour.

Library may can video the introduction of library, music performance, exhibitions and story times and put them on the website, so people can view them whenever they like.

Zoho Writer

I open an account and write a few documents, I can do some highlight thingy and shared the documents with friend. But I failed to creat a weblink and post the documemts on to my blog.

I add Sirsi Dynix Institute from Podcast into my blogline.

PBwiki

It is a place to share your thoughts wiht others who has similar interests. I add popular Chinese singers on the popular music.

wiki potential applications in library

Wiki is a powerful search tool. I will definately use it in the future, I put Harry Potter in the searching box, and it bring everything I need, such as Plot summary, Universe, Chronology, Translations, Awards and honours...

It is a good communication media, customer can play a more active part , they can put their thoughts on and view everyone else ideas, Community news, Book club, Ask librarian may be changed to Ask anyone who knows.

wiki

I looked at SJCPL subject guides, and I feel it is a easier way to look for a book. The subject headings are listed there, you can simply click on them. You don't need to guess what the subjects the library might use. These subject headings are quite strict and follow the certain rules. Not custoemr but only the cataloguers may know them.

image generators

I have play around with generator Blog, and use slide show and calendar generator to creat some pictures.

These tools are easy to use and make the pictures more attractive and interesting.

Blogline

I have created my own bloglines account and learned how to add feeds and delect feeds. using the blogline's search tool is easier, also the topix.net is a good one.

I don't think I will used this a lot, as at this moment I don't need any particular information at all.

But it is a good to know there is a such thing existed.
